Normally, a zero loss has been a bit of a downer, but this week, it’s a triumph. I was on our annual trip to spend time with the parents in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula…a long weekend with loads and loads of food, food, food.
In preparation of the weekend, I was very conservative with my calories at the start of the week. I ate a extra over the weekend, but still consumed much less than previous years. I was thrilled to step on the scale and see I hadn’t gained anything. Whew!
Now, I just have to get through Thanksgiving and the feast at Rudy and Rick’s.
Just posted my story about going to Australia at http://www.wanderingeducators.com/best/traveling/spontaneous-trip-oz.html. It includes this super trim photo of me. I was at or below my ideal weight when that shot was taken.
It was exciting to step on the scale today and see 1 – 9 – 0 – point – 0. It’s been a while since I saw 190 on the scale…and even longer since I saw anything in the 180s.
Crossing this benchmark comes at a very important time. This weekend is an annual raodtrip to Michigan’s U.P. to spend time with my parents. This tends to be a weekend of unpredictable eating.
This year, I’ll need some semblance of a plan to make sure I don’t tack on a few poungs. It won’t me easy…the place we stay has an amazing, nightly buffet. I’m such a sucker for a good buffet.
Otherwise, Liam and I have been busy getting ready for his shard jewelry show on Dec 4th. There is A LOT of stuff to get done for that. Fortunately, we finished addressing and stamping the last of the 1,500 invitations last night…we now know why people hire a service for that kind of task. http://www.lamplighterstudio.com
I’m also in the process of looking for some new writing/design projects. That and billing are my least favorite parts of being a freelancer.
Wish me luck.
Stepped on the scale and I was down a full pound this week. It’s taken three weeks, but I’ve finally made up for that 1.5 pound gain a while back. It feel so good to be back on track.
As you probably noticed, I’ve been away from Help Me Lose a bit lately. There are two reasons for that…one is that I’ve had some work-related efforts that have kept me especially busy…and two is that the giveaway we’re having over at http://www.IrishFireside.com has become a very big event. Just the correspondence alone for all the prizes has been keeping me on the move.
Thank goodness this weight loss has me feeling a bit more energized…that helps me stay productive.
Not only is it a great day because the weather is gorgeous and people are out voting in full force, but I also lost a 1/2 pound. It’s just a tiny bit, but at least the scale is tipping in the right direction.
Shortly after I stepped on the scale, I walked down the street to vote. It took almost an hour, but everyone was cheerful…except for the guy right in front of me. He was pretty quiet, but pounced at every chance to complain.
The mayor came by and thanked everyone for coming out. Well, this was Mr. Know-It-All’s chance to complain “In oh-four I waited in line for three hours.” “I bet in the suburbs they don’t have to wait this long.” “No one should have to wait more than 20 minutes.” The mayor was the classic “compassionate” politician, but was sure to move along quickly.
Later, he overhead an election worker talking to person who needed to register. The voter was worried the “proof of ID” he brought with him wouldn’t qualify. Mr. Know-It-All started talking about how “In oh-four there was none of this sh*t, it was so much easier.”
What? Was “oh-four” long and dragged out or was it simpler? I guess it depends on his audience.
Anyway, the funniest thing about voting was the bake sale going on in the yard. My voting site is the Charles Allis Museum, and they were selling cupcakes and cookies to raise money. I got a charge out of that. I resisted the treats.
I never was able to find out where Obama and McCain stand on the issues of weight loss…they only wanted to talk about those Joe the Plumber issues. What about the concerns of Corey the Foodie?
Liam and I are hosting a giveaway over at the Irish Fireside website. You can sign up for all kinds of free stuff, just visit http://irishfireside.wordpress.com/free-stuff/.
Otherwise, things have been going fine. I’m not feeling very disciplined lately, and it’s starting to show on the scale. I can assure you, the lack of “losing” is not from muscle. I’m trying not to get discouraged…thanks to everyone who has offered some support.
This effort can be tough when looking at it for the long haul rather than some short-term goal.
